The Wolves welcomed Centennial High School to WKHS for matches on a clear crisp October afternoon and evening. The JVA Wolves led off by crushing Centennial in a 5-1 win, breaking in the process a 7-game scoreless streak. Ray DiSalvo led the way with a brace (pair of goals), with single scores contributed by Ali Yildez, Marcos Vicente, and Colin Beckstedt (assisted by Fredi Camara). The defense was rarely challenged and deserved a clean sheet but lost that with 39 seconds left when conceding a throw-away goal. Regardless, a satisfying win for the improving JVA Wolves.
It was a special night for the Varsity Senior players and fans as they say goodby to some wonderful young men playing their final home match. We owe so much thanks and well wishes to Seniors Avi Reddy, Alex Vicente, Gabe Toops, Cole Santagata, Wyatt Versele and Max Recard, for all they have done for this program. They have certainly made their marks on this team, and will not be soon forgotten. But, they have a few more matches after tonight before their high school experience ends.
The Varsity dominated the Centennial opponent in romping to an 8-1 win, with the only goal conceded coming in the final two minutes. Cam Farris led off the scoring 70 seconds in. Grady Fuller soon followed with a beautiful header off of a splendid free kick by Quinn McGlone. Quinn then chipped in with his own goal, followed by goals from Grant Darner and Esad Alpay for a 5-0 halftime lead.
Early in the second half Kellen Louk scored off a Cam Ferris assist, after which the 6-goal running clock rule kicked in. Wyatt Versele then celebrated his last home half with a pair of goals to close out the 8-1 win.
After a 6-match losing streak in which they scored a mere 3 goals in total, the Wolves are closing the season on a strong note having won the past two matches with 11 total goals! Hopefully, they can continue that success in their final regular season match and in the District tourney next week.
