On an unseasonable warm and sunny October Saturday afternoon, both JVA and Varsity clubs welcomed Olentangy Liberty to Worthington as they hoped to end scoring droughts and return to winning ways.
JVA continued to show improvement in their match against Liberty, but the results did not show that. The Patriots scored two goals towards the end of the first half and a third towards the end of the second to put the game away. The Wolves had no answer and again were shutout, 0-3. The fine effort never waned, and the results will surely change soon as the team improves.
The Varsity was up next and quickly found their scoring touch as they faced the Patriot's Varsity team. Less than 2 minutes in, Bowen Rick fed Paul Stenberg for the first Wolves goal and an accustomed lead. 3 minutes later Caleb Kinderknecht found the back of the net for a surprising two goal lead for the Wolves. That proved to be all that was needed, as Liberty could only manage one score against the fine Kilbourne defense.
Erkan Erciyas added a third goal for the Wolves in the second half, in a match that the Wolves fairy dominated for a desperately needed 3-1 win. The Wolves showed their usual great effort that has been a consistent feature of their play throughout this year.
