The Wolves closed out their regular season by travelling to Westerville South to face the Wildcats. It was the end of the year for the ever-improving JVA squad. It was no surprise that they played their best game of the season, though the result did not necessarily bear that out. Under a bright sunshine on this October afternoon, they battled the Wildcats well and exhibited much better passing and form, and the only difference between the two teams were better finishing by the Wildcats, who scored with a couple of excellent shots and a couple of breakaway goals that our goalkeeper had little chance to stop. The Wildcats came away with a 0-4 win, but the Wolves could hold their heads high knowing they fought hard and improved substantially over the season.
The Wolves Varsity were up next and did not look past the Wildcats as tournament play opens next week. The Wildcats struck first under the lights on this crisp evening, scoring the opening goal not even 8 minutes in. The Wolves answered quickly though, with Erkan Erciyas scoring on an excellent, hard shot from the side that he fired past the Wildcat goalie. The tie score then held through the rest of the first half, as the Wolves played very well and with great effort. In the second half, the Wolves scored the winner when Senior Alex Vicente headed in a great free kick from Bowen Rick . The excellent Wolves D allowed that score to hold, and the Wolves walked away with a 2-1 win and a season-ending 3 game win streak.
On to District Tourney play next Wednesday at Teas Valley!
